title: Pinning of directed polymers and the slow-bond problem |
The
so-called slow-bond model is a modified version of the usual totally
asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP), where translation
invariance is broken by letting one of the rates smaller than the
others. Determining whether this has a macroscopic effect or not is
known as the slow-bond problem; the goal of the talks is to describe
how the question relates to one of pinning of a directed polymer in a
random medium and to a version of polynuclear growth, for which the
corresponding question can be answered. Joint work with V. Sidoravicius
(CWI Amsterdam). |
